Get in touch
Tell me what is happening.
Tell me what you are weighing up. It may be a board question nobody feels qualified to challenge, delivery you cannot verify, a technology leader carrying too much or a decision with more risk than visibility. A first conversation is free and there is no pitch at the end of it. If I am not the right person I will say so, and usually point you at who is.

What is useful to send
A few lines is genuinely enough. If you have them to hand, these three make the first conversation far more useful:
- Where the business is. Stage, rough headcount, and whether there is a technical team in place already.
- What is actually going wrong. A missed date, a supplier you cannot verify, a board question nobody can answer.
- What is forcing the timing. A raise, a renewal, a launch, or a decision the board has already deferred once.
What happens next
- 1. I read it myself and reply, usually within a working day.
- 2. A call of thirty to forty-five minutes. It is free, and there is no pitch at the end of it.
- 3. If I am the right person, I will set out what I would do and what it would take. If I am not, I will say so, and where useful point you at someone who is.
Not sure which conversation you are having? Fractional and interim CTO work sits inside the business. Board and advisory work sits outside it, holding the executive team to account.
Making an introduction
A good part of my work arrives through investors, chairs, advisers and former clients. If you are introducing someone rather than enquiring yourself, use the same form and say so in the first line.
- What to send. Who the company is, the question they are stuck on, and whether they already know you are getting in touch.
- What happens next. I reply to you first, not to them, so you keep control of the timing and the framing.
- What will not happen. You will not be put on a mailing list or followed up as a prospect for making the introduction.
